European Universities’ cooperation: towards sustainable transdisciplinary partnerships

Context, agenda and materials of the second CHARM-EU Annual Conference on 13 January 2022.
Cooperation between different stakeholders in Higher Education is becoming more relevant to enhance sustainable innovation, digital transformation, citizen wellbeing, equitable and inclusive societies, and economic development. This vision has been reinforced particularly by the European Universities Initiative and through a number of European policy/action areas. The second CHARM-EU Annual Conference provided a platform for the EUI to strengthen its strategic partnership across the EU between higher education institutions, focusing on innovations and trends in HE and how European University Alliances deliver a contribution in this development.
During its the first two years, the European Universities Initiative proved to be an effective means to foster cooperation of the knowledge square whilst developing a new university model of the future through education, research, innovation, external engagement and digitalization. At the CHARM-EU Annual Conference, different elements of this topic were discussed, including the benefits of multistakeholder cooperation at local, national, and regional levels, the importance of a common agenda based on knowledge sharing and how to consolidate this interaction to meet societal challenges in a just and inclusive way.
