Successful Networking meeting in the ELTE University Library and Archives

The professional staff meeting of librarians of the CHARM-EU Alliance took place on 23-24 September 2024 in Budapest. Hosted by ELTE, the event was attended by representatives of seven partner universities, fostering synergies among CHARM-EU partner’s libraries.

Two participants at the libraries meet-up discussing with the CHARM-EU rollup on the back and a panel with notes and post-its.

The meeting provided insight into the diverse roles of libraries in the context of CHARM-EU and beyond. Participants worked on several challenges such as optimising the sharing of library resources, the role of AI technologies in service development, and how libraries can become places for interdisciplinary learning and collaboration. The design thinking process was led by CHARM-EU experts. The meeting also provided opportunity to share personal experiences and showcase institutional good practices.

As part of the networking event, library representatives took a guided tour of the ELTE University Library and Archives. The group also visited the unique exhibition “Nine Universities, One Project – CHARM-EU”, which includes a selection of library treasures related to the nine institutions of the Alliance.

A photo exhibition was also organised for the event, which takes the viewer on a virtual tour of the CHARM-EU partners’ libraries. The exhibition showcases 31 photographs around four main themes: Architecture & Heritage, Community, Library in Action and Libraries & Art. In the pictures, the rich cultural and social life of university libraries is depicted as well as their inspiring engagement activities and up-to-date innovations towards preservation and digitalization processes.
