The Mission of CHARM-EU
CHARM-EU was created to become a world example of good practice to increase the quality, international competitiveness and attractiveness of the European Higher Education landscape. The diversity of educational systems as well as geographical, regional, cultural, lingual, economic and historical perspectives/challenges of the nine CHARM-EU members contribute to consolidating the university of the future and revealing our common goals on the path towards a more sustainable and inclusive future.
CHARM-EU offers a learning experience that, having mobility and inclusivity as its core, is based on the implementation of a transformative approach, especially referring to the programme and the curricula design, which combines the best of the European traditions in structuring curriculum through knowledge-creating teams, with a flexible, skill-oriented modulization structure. Moreover, it delivers an innovative, challenge-driven, student-centred, and self-directed teaching model that integrates research, teaching, innovation and enquire within and across the disciplines open to the world. This model envisages a European higher education campus utilising the latest modern technologies in the service of accessibility and internationalisation.
In addition, it shares a common science agenda with a focus on mission-based challenges associated with the green and digital transition, linked to the UN SDGs, and promoting a common, core principles framework of delivery through responsible research and innovation, gendered innovation, equality and inclusion, transdisciplinary and open science. It promotes the continued professional development and widening of participation of CHARM-EU member staff (academic, researcher and professionals) in order to support innovative ideation and internal transferability of good practices whilst contributing to individual career development. At last, it continues to test new innovative approaches to strengthen the links between research and education across its entire activity set inspiring other Higher Education Institutions and external stakeholders, at regional, national, EU and global level, to experiment with models and concepts created by CHARM-EU.
