The course will cover topics as follows:
– theories within philosophy and psychology, sociology, economics, and biology (e.g. animal welfare and behavior science),
– animal law as social movement,
– different theories that have animated past and present debates concerning the use and treatment of animals.
After the course, the students will be able to:
– understand and relate to animal law and the protection of animals in relation to philosophy and psychology, sociology, economics, and biology (e.g. animal welfare and behavior),
– understand animal law as part of a social movement,
– compare different theories that have animated past and present debates concerning the use and treatment of animals.
Introduction to Animal Law, 5 ECTS and Animal Law Theory, 5 ECTS or equivalent modules.

This online course is self-study based and consists of recorded online lectures, group discussions and a written exam. The exam is made online and there are several scheduled exam dates to choose from.
