SIRIC Montpellier Cancer

Short description of the organisation
SIRIC Montpellier Cancer is one of the eight France’s accredited Integrated Cancer Research Sites (Site de Recherche Intégrée sur le Cancer). It brings together clinicians and researchers from the Institut du Cancer de Montpellier (ICM), the Montpellier University Hospital (CHU de Montpellier), and several research institutes affiliated with Inserm, CNRS, and the Universities of Montpellier. Its mission is to accelerate the translation of scientific discoveries into improved cancer prevention, diagnosis, and treatment. The SIRIC label is awarded competitively by the French National Cancer Institute (INCa), with support from Inserm and the DGOS (French Directorate General for Healthcare Provision). Montpellier has held this label since 2012 and secured a third consecutive accreditation in 2023. The current SIRIC Montpellier Cancer program is structured around three major integrated research programs: · PRIORITY: optimization of internal and external radiotherapy using AI, imaging, radiobiology, and dosimetry approaches. · PANACEA: prevention and supportive care research, with a strong emphasis on behavioral and psychosocial sciences. · ENERGY: development of innovative therapies based on a better understanding of cancer metabolism (onco-metabolism).

AUF

Short description of the organisation
The Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie (AUF) is the largest global academic network, bringing together more than 1,000 higher education institutions and research performing organisations across 120 countries. AUF is simultaneously the executive agency for higher education and research of the Conference of Heads of State and government of countries with the French language in common. Present in 70 countries, AUF has a proven record of implementing complex projects, and transformational multi-country investment plans pertaining to basic education, higher education, vocational skills and employability in partnership with governments, donors and civil society actors. AUF 2026-2029 Strategic plan focuses on digital transformation and AI, youth employability and civic engagement, science diplomacy and governance, inclusive education, and impactful research for sustainable development.
Our connection with CHARM-EU
Committed to incentivise responsible scientific entrepreneurship, AUF in Western Europe supported the University of Montpellier led project SPIVRE (Sessions de présentation de projets innovants pour une valorisation de résultats scientifiques à l’échelle d’un réseau européen). While deepening CHARM-EU collaborative patterns, AUF deemed the initiative able to foster wider european and international academic cooperation, relevant in communicating the societal value of scientific innovation. The other added value AUF found in SPIVRE is in connecting its global network and the European Alliances, given commonalities in membership and purpose. In addition to supporting two editions of the CHARM-DEN pitch competition, AUF contributed to the production of a dedicated methodological guide. Co-created by academic teams in the Alliance with the support of the Booster Innovation Montpellier programme, the Pitch Guide could prove instrumental in assisting young innovators to design effective campaigns showcasing their innovations.

BlueGreen Vision

Short description of the organisation
BlueGreen Vision is a Barcelona-based DeepTech startup developing innovative solutions for marine ecosystem regeneration and environmental intelligence. Our two complementary projects, BlueGreen Regeneration and BlueGreen Data, focus on restoring marine and port ecosystems and advancing environmental monitoring through data-driven technologies. By integrating marine science, technological innovation and sustainability, we aim to contribute to a more regenerative, resilient and sustainable blue economy.
Our connection with CHARM-EU
BlueGreen Vision was selected to represent the University of Barcelona at the first edition of CHARM-DEN in October 2024, an international entrepreneurship initiative within the CHARM-EU European University Alliance. This participation provided an opportunity to present our approach to marine ecosystem regeneration and sustainable innovation within a European academic and entrepreneurial environment. The experience strengthened our connection with the European innovation ecosystem and reflected the importance of bringing together universities, startups and external stakeholders to address real-world sustainability challenges.

Musa Loop

Short description of the organisation
Musa Loop is a women-led startup based in Barcelona that develops advanced bioplastics for the design industry. We turn banana agricultural waste into biomaterials for applications where the material is seen, touched and defines the product: interior design, lighting, hospitality and accessories. We combine technical performance, CMF expertise (colour, material and finish) and industrial feasibility to turn sustainability into real adoption.
Our connection with CHARM-EU
In 2025 we took part in the UB–CHARM-EU competition representing the University of Barcelona, with the support of Fundació Bosch i Gimpera and StartUB. The experience allowed us to test our project in a European setting and strengthen our value proposition.

Parc Agrari del Baix Llobregat

Short description of the organisation
Established in 1998, the Baix Llobregat Agricultural Park Consortium manages and protects over 3,300 hectares of agricultural land in the Llobregat Delta and Lower Llobregat Valley. Bringing together public authorities and agricultural stakeholders, its mission is to safeguard farmland, ensure the long-term viability of agricultural activities, and enhance the area’s environmental and landscape value.
Our connection with CHARM-EU
The Baix Llobregat Agricultural Park Consortium has collaborated with CHARM-EU through two projects within the international Master’s programme Global Challenges for Sustainability: 1. Circular Economy and Agricultural Plastic Waste Management (2024) An international team of students explored ways to improve the management and circularity of agricultural plastics, focusing on waste prevention, collection, reuse and recycling. 2. Carbon Farming: Pruning Residue Valorisation and Biochar Application (2025) Students assessed the potential of using pruning residues and biochar to enhance soil carbon sequestration and climate resilience in Mediterranean peri-urban agriculture. The project examined environmental, economic, regulatory and social aspects, engaging local stakeholders to identify barriers and opportunities for implementation.

Innoceana has been collaborating with CHARM-EU in two editions of the Capstone Challenge, in which student teams were involved in working on challenges related to marine conservation, SDG 14 and sustainable tourism.

Escuder collaborated with CHARM-EU through a Master’s project involving five students who addressed a real-world sustainability challenge: improving packaging and reducing CO₂ emissions from transport and distribution. The collaboration provided students with practical industry experience while bringing fresh perspectives and innovative solutions to the company, highlighting the value of cooperation between academia and industry.

ForSURE specializes in automating EPR reporting across waste streams internationally. Extended Producer Responsibility holds businesses accountable for the end-of-life phase of their products, but its reports are complex. ForSURE created a unified approach, making businesses able to manage their compliance easily.
Our connection with CHARM-EU
ForSURE has collaborated with CHARM-EU in various ways. From the CHARM-DEN to joining workshops to hosting a Capstone Challenge. The latter resulted in thorough research on waste reporting challenges that helped CHARM students to explore the implementation of sustainability legislation from a business side and explore solutions to make the legislation more effective.

Stadtbau Würzburg GmbH

Stadtbau Würzburg GmbH is the municipal housing company of the City of Würzburg. With more than 5,600 residential units in around 600 buildings, Stadtbau Würzburg provides housing for over 11,000 people—approximately ten per cent of Würzburg’s population. In addition to maintaining and continuously modernising its existing properties, the company develops new residential neighbourhoods across the city. The company’s activities are guided by economic and social responsibility. Particular emphasis is placed on providing attractive, affordable housing and fostering vibrant neighbourhoods.
Our connection with CHARM-EU
As part of the CHARM-EU programme, we worked with students to explore two topics relating to our residential neighbourhoods: effective rainwater management for climate-resilient existing buildings, and an accessible, multilingual biodiversity trail. The focus was on solutions that could potentially be implemented not only in individual showcase projects but also across our wider housing portfolio. The students developed well-researched and creative approaches that opened up new perspectives and encouraged us to critically reassess our existing practices. The results provide valuable inspiration for our future work. We would like to incorporate them into planning and concrete measures over the coming years.
