Patricia Cucchi, Academic director of CHARM-EU at the University of Montpellier, participated in the roundtable “Between territorial anchorage and international perspectives” of the Annual Congress of ADBU, the French association of directors and staff from Universities libraries.
After presenting CHARM-EU, with its particularities and challenges, she discussed with the other panelists the impact of European universities on universities libraries. She highlighted the role that libraries have to play to support the transdisciplinary approach of CHARM-EU, and how libraries are evolving within the alliance to be in line with its values: more open and collaborative, more intercultural (adjusting for international students), more inclusive, and striving towards Open Science and sharing resources with each other.
The 2021 ADBU Congress was the 50th edition of this yearly event. It gathered 500 participants from higher education and research institutions, but also policy makers at the local or national level. It focused on “global map and territories”, questioning the role of libraries and documentation within the fields of higher education and research, today and tomorrow, and highlighted how they are a lever and a major stake for national and local policies.
