CHARM-EU Empowers International Mobility Coordinators

The CHARM-EU Alliance continues to strengthen its cross-institutional networks and boost student exchange opportunities across Europe. Erasmus+ coordinators from CHARM-EU partner universities’ International Offices and various academic departments recently gathered at Julius-Maximilians-University Würzburg on 24 and 25 June for the Staff Training for CHARM-EU Outgoing Coordinators.

This two-day, on-site event focused on a core mission: expanding student mobility numbers among partner institutions and equipping staff with the professional competencies needed to navigate the evolving Erasmus+ framework.

Collaboration, Culture, and the International Day

The training offered a vibrant mix of practical, collaborative learning and direct public engagement. Before arriving, participants utilised digital collaboration tools like Miro to map out institutional profiles, setting a foundation for seamless knowledge sharing.

Once in Würzburg, the coordinators dove into deep-dive thematic discussions regarding the future of CHARM-EU partnerships and strategic internationalisation. A key highlight of the event was the university’s International Day, where participants developed and presented mobility-focused institutional posters. This allowed coordinators to pitch their home universities directly to prospective students and peers, turning strategic objectives into active, real-world outreach.

Recognising Excellence: The “International Mobility Coordination” Badge

In alignment with CHARM-EU’s commitment to flexible, modular education and cross-institutional capacity building, successful participants are awarded the International Mobility Coordination digital badge.

Equivalent to 0.5 ECTS (representing 16 hours of dedicated preparation, in-person training, and presentation work), this credential certifies that the recipient has acquired vital skills rooted in transnational and intercultural learning.

To earn this badge, coordinators demonstrate the ability to:

  • Represent their institution confidently in complex international and intercultural settings.
  • Communicate essential institutional data clearly to prospective mobility students and academic peers.
  • Promote their university dynamically during cross-institutional outreach events.
  • Collaborate with international colleagues to tackle common challenges and find shared solutions for Erasmus+ student mobility.
  • Utilise modern digital collaboration tools to enhance documentation and shared knowledge.
  • Reflect critically on internal practices to continuously improve student mobility and institutional cooperation.

Looking Ahead

By investing in the professional development of our dedicated staff, CHARM-EU is ensuring that our partner universities remain integrated, innovative, and ready to support the next generation of global students.

Thank you to all of our outgoing coordinators for their dedication, insights, and passion for building a more connected European Higher Education Area!
