Short description

It is a practical course, we discuss the main imaging procedures used in the field of medicine and human biology (CT, DEXA, MR, X-ray, ultrasound, …) and the other novel methodologies used in the assessment of biological status of human beings (ELISA – hormone level estimations (DNA sequencing, microscopy, …).
Students are encouraged to choose one of the topics in the very first lecture and prepare an introduction of the selected method during the forthcoming lectures. After the students’ presentations the group discuss the methods in the lectures and the practical course leader (A. Zsakai) comments the methods and give case reports and famous examinations fro the field of human biology where the methods helped to solve the scientific questions (e.g. Mohacs 2026 project, personal identification of King Laszlo).
No pre-qualification is needed, it is a multidisciplinary practical course, students open to new methods and the base of examinations presented by CIS (Criminal Investigative Service) cases and series.

Learning outcomes

At the end of the course, the learner will be able to understand the basis of the presented methods, to select the proper method for the estimation of biological status of human beings in the actual problems, to plan researches in the field of natural sciences where these methods are used, to understand the reports of methods studied in the course (to help family members to understand the medical reports), present a topic that is not necessarily is in the field of the interest, to collect information on research methods in medicine.
