The CHARM-EU Alliance is holding its first ever Commencement Ceremony on the 3rd of February 2023 when the first students completing the Master’s in Global Challenges for Sustainability will graduate after an intensive final week full of activities.
Following an 18-month-long European educational adventure in the first accredited Master’s degree programme under the criteria of the European Universities initiative, the first cohort of CHARM-EU students are reaching a milestone in their lives as their graduation ceremony is quickly approaching. The event is certainly a landmark for the European Universities initiative as well as they are the first students to graduate from a master’s programme designed by a European University Alliance. Their voice and contribution during the last one and a half year were instrumental both for their own success as well as for the co-creation and innovation process of the CHARM-EU Master’s programme Global Challenges for Sustainability.
During a final blended intensive mobility programme in Barcelona between the 30th of January and 3rd of February, the graduating students will take part in various learning activities such as workshops, a fieldtrip and two panel discussions with external stakeholders on the topics of working in sustainability and taking action on global challenges. A poster session has been displayed at the University of Barcelona with presenting their challenges. As a culmination of their learning process in the programme, students will also present the challenges they have been collaboratively working on with their peers, mentors and external stakeholders during the third, Capstone phase of the programme, both within and beyond Europe.
As a final event of the week and a worthy conclusion of their master’s studies at CHARM-EU, the Commencement Ceremony will start at 16:00 CEST on 3 of February live from the University of Barcelona by invitation only. The Ceremony will have live speeches by Prof. Joan Guàrdia Olmos, Rector of the University of Barcelona, Mr. Markus González Beilfuss, Undersecretary for Universities in Spain, Ms. Vanessa Debiais-Sainton, Head of the Unit in charge of Higher Education policies and programme at the European Commission’s Directorate General General for Education, Youth, Sport and Culture, Prof. Catherine Comiskey, CHARM-EU Academic Director and Prof. Marjanneke Vijge , Utrecht Academic Coordinator CHARM-EU
The Graduation Ceremony will be live streamed on the YouTube channel of CHARM-EU.
