TORCH participates in a workshop on Gender Equality and the R&I sector

During the event, Dr. Montserrat Puig, Vice Rector for Equality and Gender from the University of Barcelona and member of the CHARM-EU alliance, discussed the key role of  gender equality in the development of European Universities initiative.

Last 12 November 2021 the research dimension of CHARM-EU, TORCH participated in the Workshop “Gender Equality Plans in the R&I sector (career development and research methodologies)” organised by Ecorys on behalf of the European Commission. During this online workshop,  also took part another European University Alliance, our fellows from EC2U (The European Campus of City Universities). During the event, the two representatives of European Universities alliances presented their gender equality plans, outlining how it was developed and implemented.

Some of the main topics discussed were how to approach gender equality, from an institutional as well as national point of view; and this topic was also extrapolated to research careers and its dimensions.

Additionally, good practices, progress and challenges encountered in the implementation of Gender Equality Plans in Research and Innovation. After, there was a round of questions and answers so listeners could ask questions to the speakers and generate some debate.

The workshop also comprised Interactive Break-Out Sessions, which discussed a selection of mandatory process-based elements including the GEP, resources identified and GEP implementation and monitoring; data collection and monitoring arrangements.

Finally, there was a Plenary Session, which consisted in giving and receiving feedback from the Break-Out Sessions groups. Participants also discussed the priority topics, in addition to what solutions can be implemented jointly as Alliances.
