Technology-enhanced learning
The transforming of modules into a format with technology enhanced learning, has te aim to enhance student learning, rather than just replacing face-to-face lectures or making use of an additional learning platform. To make this change, professional development in teaching and learning is indispensable (Garone et al., 2022). The aim of the professional development initiatives for the university teaching staff is to help them implement effective teaching approaches to improve student learning outcomes, a goal that this workshop seeks to achieve.
This 60-minute workshop is designed to introduce new or less experienced teachers to Technologically Enhanced Learning (TEL) in an engaging and inclusive way. The primary goal is to help participants explore how technology can enhance their teaching and address important considerations like digital accessibility. The content focuses on familiarizing teachers with digital tools that can be integrated into their modules. Participants will conduct an online SWOT analysis to evaluate the potential benefits and challenges of various tools, such as the flexibility and personalised learning experiences they could offer students, or the time investment required from staff. They will also learn key considerations for selecting the appropriate technologies by engaging with different personas and reflecting on their own technical proficiency. The workshop will provide guidance on how to request support or tools from the institution. By the end of the session, participants should feel more confident about using tools in their teaching and be prepared to implement them in their modules. The session is interactive, with opportunities for participants to share their thoughts, engage in group exercises, and test out tools through surveys and collaborative activities.
Learning objectives
