Target Participants

This event is designed for higher education lecturers, program coordinators, EMI trainers, researchers, and university policy-makers involved in the design, delivery, or evaluation of English-Medium Instruction (EMI) programs. Participants are expected to have a basic understanding of EMI principles, with an interest in exploring pedagogical strategies, assessment approaches, and internationalisation practices.

Overview and Objectives

The EMI Networking Event provides an in-depth exploration of English-Medium Instruction (EMI) in higher education across Europe. Through keynote speeches, case studies from European universities, and a glimpse of the EMI training course at UM, participants will gain insight into current EMI practices within the CHARM-EU Alliance and beyond.

The event also examines EMI as a strategic tool for university internationalisation, highlighting how institutions can leverage EMI to:

  • Enhance global engagement and attract diverse student populations,
  • Foster cross-border academic collaboration,
  • Support lecturers in designing and delivering high-quality EMI courses.
  • Participants will have the opportunity to share experiences, exchange best practices, and discuss challenges and innovations in EMI, contributing to a European-level dialogue on pedagogy, policy, and institutional strategy.
