We are excited to announce and invite you the first ever CHARM-EU Cultural Festival! Join us to dive into the cultures and languages of our universities, meet and connect with fellow students, teachers and staff from partner institutions and take part in a diverse set of programs and activities on cultures, languages and interculturality!

Complementing our Annual Conference 2024, the event will showcase and celebrate the cultures of CHARM-EU partner universities, engaging visitors in a rich diversity of cultural programmes, challenges and fun activities. We warmly welcome everyone interested in experiencing interculturality and multilingualism in a joyful festival environment.

The main location of this year’s festival is the Faculty of Humanities at ELTE (Budapest), offering a wide range of cultural programs and fun activities spanning all kinds of art forms and showcasing all CHARM-EU languages. In addition, partner universities also provide local programs to engage participants from our campuses in Barcelona, Dublin, Utrecht, Montpellier, Turku, Würzburg, Mülheim and Bergen.

The programme will include:

  • cultural activities including folk music and dance, choirs, theatre and live readings;
  • linguistic and cultural games such as quizzes, trivia, and (inter)cultural escape rooms;
  • movie afternoon with discussion and an intercultural Instagram short film challenge;
  • interactive excursion, challenge-based public engagement workshop, and a platform for training intercultural communication skills;
  • cooking clubs, open seminars, photo exhibitions, international karaoke night, and more!

Please join the Cultural Festival event on Facebook and LinkedIn, or subscribe to the CHARM-EU newsletter to stay tuned for the latest festival information!

While ‘interculturality’ is an important phenomenon and principle in the background of the event, the direct purpose of the Festival is that participants experience CHARM-EU languages and cultures through the various programme elements that: introduce cultures and languages through engaging, team-based, challenge-driven activities; do not require academic background knowledge from the participants; introduce cultures in a respectful manner following the principles of diversity, equity, inclusion; and harmonise with CHARM-EU educational principles and align with CHARM-EU principles and practices of sustainability.
