ELTE Hosts the CHARM-EU Libraries’ Networking Meeting

The professional staff meeting will take place in Budapest on September 23-24. Hosted by the ELTE University Library and Archives, the event aims to foster synergies and closer cooperation between libraries across the CHARM-EU Alliance.

Initiated by Eötvös Loránd University, over 15 top management colleagues will attend the first CHARM-EU Libraries’ Meetup from the libraries of the 9 CHARM-EU partner institutions. The meeting will provide insight into the diverse roles of libraries in the context of CHARM-EU and beyond.

The methodology of the Meetup follows unique networking guidelines developed by a team of professionals within the Alliance. An online preparatory meeting will precede the two-day onsite event in Budapest, facilitating the identification of shared challenges and possible joint initiatives with a focus on service development.

The onsite meeting will consist of a series of design thinking workshops and networking activities. Additionally, it will incorporate the closing event of the ELTE University Library and Archives’ Book of Your Life (BoYL) project, implemented in frame of the Europe Challenge Programme, which unites European libraries and their communities to jointly develop creative solutions to various challenges facing Europe.

To celebrate the newly established collaboration among the CHARM-EU partner libraries, the ELTE University Library and Archives will also host a photo exhibition reflecting on the diverse roles of university libraries in the 21th century. The exhibition will showcase pictures of CHARM-EU partner libraries around four main themes: Architecture & Heritage, Community, Library in Action and Libraries & Art.

The venue of the Meetup and the exhibition is a newly opened community space at the ELTE University Library and Archives, created in the framework of the BoYL project.
