One of CHARM-EU’s values is inclusivity. In line with this goal, the Inclusiveness Work Package supports that inclusion and diversity sit at the heart of the CHARM EU’s culture and design of the initiative.
The European Universities Initiative is designed to significantly strengthen the mobility of students and staff, and foster the quality, Inclusiveness and competitiveness of European higher education. CHARM-EU (CHallenge-driven, Accessible, Research-based, Mobile European University) is one of the selected 17 European Universities in the first call (this year 24 more have been selected). Promoting and protecting equal rights and equity of access should be safeguarded in policies and practices. Nevertheless, many groups remain underrepresented in higher education.
CHARM-EU’s ambitious mission and vision are to be a pioneer and model in the European Higher Education Area and beyond offering a plural, inclusive, flexible, student-centred learning experience. One of CHARM-EU’s values is inclusivity. In line with this goal, Work Package (WP6 Inclusiveness) supports that inclusion and diversity sit at the heart of the CHARM EU’s culture and design and delivery of the work packages. CHARM-EU is committed to promoting inclusive teaching, and learning environments, access and participation of students and staff with various backgrounds owned lived experiences and access needs in all aspects of higher education.
This year’s theme of International Day of Persons with Disabilities is “Building Back Better: toward a disability-inclusive, accessible and sustainable post-COVID-19 World” focuses on raising awareness of barriers in society & empowerment of persons with disabilities for an inclusive, equitable and sustainable post-COVID-19 world.
Connected to this overall international agenda at the CHARM-EU Days Cluster 3 | Inclusiveness discussed & shared good practices about how to safeguard equality and inclusion in education policies & practices, including links to the European Green Deal & the Sustainable Development Goals.
Inclusion is a step-by-step journey. It is essential to bring various individuals with own lived experiences, backgrounds, access needs, and various stakeholders and work together in synergy to create an inclusive CHARM-EU and a more inclusive European Higher Education Area.
