EUA Teaching and Learning Forum

On 18-19 February 2021 tool place the virtual 2021 EUA Teaching and Learning Forum. Under the topic “Embedding and facilitating sustainability” participants had an opportunity to meet and discuss developments in learning and teaching at European universities.   The Forum builds on EUA’s work with its member universities on this topic. Alongside the bottom-up approach, the Forum makes use of EUA’s extensive policy work in European higher education.

The abstract submitted by Gemma O’Sullivan together with Silvia Gallagher, Trinity College Dublin and Sanne van Vugt, Utrecht University, was selected to be presented during the Forum at the panel session “How to transcend disciplinary, institutional and national boundaries to work towards a sustainable world”.

The aim of their contribution was to present the CHARM-EU model describing the use of the transdisciplinary, trans-institutional, pan-European Knowledge Creating teams to design and develop the Master’s in Global Challenges for Sustainability. The presentation highlighted how CHARM-EU is transparently and equitably utilising the research and education resources of the five partners to create a transdisciplinary and challenge based master’s programme focused on the Sustainable Development Goals and also how transdisciplinary staffing structure draws on multiple disciplines from all partner universities and connects with extra academic actors.

The 2021 European Learning & Teaching Forum explored how learning and teaching ensures access to the knowledge and skills needed to reach the UN Sustainable Development Goals and accomplish the transformations that our societies and economies require.
