The meeting was hosted by Professor Antoni Trilla, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, University of Barcelona, and brought together representatives from the University of Barcelona, Hospital Clínic Barcelona, CHARM-EU, the UEMS Geriatric Medicine Section, and Trinity College Dublin. Participants included Professor Roman Romero-Ortuño (Trinity College Dublin); Dr Alfons López-Soto and Dr Juan Manuel Pérez-Castejón (University of Barcelona and Hospital Clínic Barcelona); Dr Marta Arroyo Huidobro (Hospital Clínic Barcelona); Dr Cristina Galván, Rector’s Delegate for CHARM-EU; Dr Núria Casamitjana, President of the CHARM-EU Academic Council; Meritxell Chaves, Secretary General of CHARM-EU; and Dr Maria Victòria Farré Mercadé, Spanish Delegate to the UEMS Geriatric Medicine Section.

During the meeting, the GERI-CHARM team presented its vision for making geriatric competencies more visible, integrated, and assessable within undergraduate medical curricula, building on the European Undergraduate Curriculum in Geriatric Medicine. Discussions focused on the development of the GERI-CHARM Implementation Toolkit, a practical resource to help medical schools map and integrate geriatric competencies across existing curricula, with potential application across the CHARM-EU Alliance.
The meeting concluded with plans to continue the collaboration during the University of Barcelona delegation’s visit to Trinity College Dublin on 15–16 October 2026, where both institutions will further develop the GERI-CHARM project and explore opportunities to share its educational resources across the wider CHARM-EU Alliance.
