DESCRIPTION:Speaker: Dr Daniel Sprick (University of Cologne)\n\nOrganised 
 by the KoWinChi programme (Interacting Competently with China in Science)\
 , this practical training is designed for academics and administrative sta
 ff who are engaging—or planning to engage—in cooperation with Chinese 
 partners. KoWinChi aims to support universities in building responsible\, 
 well-informed\, and sustainable collaborations with China. The programme i
 s run by the University of Würzburg and Erlangen-Nürnberg\, with financi
 al support from the German Federal Ministry of Research\, Technology\, and
  Space (BMFTR).\n\n\nAbout the workshop\nScientific cooperation with China
  offers considerable opportunities—but also specific legal challenges. T
 his workshop provides a compact and practice-oriented introduction to key 
 legal issues that arise in cross-border academic collaboration.\nParticipa
 nts will gain insights into questions such as:\n\n 	How does the Chinese l
 egal system work in practice—and what common misconceptions persist?\n 	
 How can intellectual property be protected when data crosses borders?\n 	W
 hat are the “red lines” regarding surveys\, state secrets\, or dual-us
 e technologies?\n 	How can universities navigate obligations related to da
 ta security and regulatory compliance?\n\nThrough analysis of selected cou
 rt cases\, regulatory examples\, and real-world scenarios\, the workshop a
 ims to build a shared understanding of the legal particularities of cooper
 ation with Chinese partners. It will equip participants with tools for saf
 e\, confident\, and well-informed collaboration.\nFORMAT AND METHODOLOGY\n
 This workshop is delivered online\, in two interactive sessions:\n\n 	Wedn
 esday\, 4 February 2026 – 09:00–12:00 (CET)\n 	Thursday\, 5 February 2
 026 – 09:00–12:00 (CET)\n\nUsing Zoom and Miro\, participants will wor
 k with texts\, visual materials\, group exercises\, and short surveys. Act
 ive participation via microphone and camera is encouraged to maintain the 
 highly interactive character of KoWinChi training.\n\nThe workshop will be
  held in English.\nAbout the speaker\nDr Daniel Sprick is a Research Assoc
 iate at the Chair of Chinese Legal Culture\, University of Cologne. His ar
 eas of expertise include Chinese criminal law\, judicial reforms\, competi
 tion and antitrust law\, AI regulation\, and the transnational dimensions 
 of Chinese law.\nHe has advised the European Parliament and the Dutch Mini
 stry of Foreign Affairs and has been awarded the Hanenburg-Yntema Prize fo
 r his work on Chinese competition law.\nRegistration\nParticipation is fre
