DESCRIPTION: 28–29 September 2026 University of Würzburg\, Germany		\n		
 			\n							\n									Register Now\n					\n		Scientific cooperation betwe
 en European universities and partners in the People’s Republic of China 
 continues to play an important role across disciplines. At the same time\,
  academic collaboration increasingly unfolds within a complex geopolitical
  and regulatory environment. Universities are expected to navigate evolvin
 g policy frameworks\, heightened public scrutiny\, and questions of instit
 utional responsibility\, while safeguarding academic freedom\, research in
 tegrity and international openness.Against this backdrop\, the China Comp
 etence Centre of the University of Würzburg and the KoWinChi project (I
 nteracting Competently with China in Science) — a joint programme of th
 e University of Würzburg and FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg\, funded by the Germa
 n Federal Ministry of Research\, Technology and Space — invite participa
 nts from across Europe to exchange experiences and reflect together on ins
 titutional approaches to cooperation with China.Over the past two years\, 
 the KoWinChi project has worked closely with researchers and administrativ
 e staff at German universities to strengthen awareness\, institutional sen
 sitivity and informed engagement in academic cooperation with China. With 
 this conference\, we would like to continue the discussion within the broa
 der European context\, creating space for comparative perspectives and sha
 red reflection on institutional approaches\, governance practices\, and ac
 ademic engagement.The conference will address the following themes:Europea
 n messaging towards China: interpretations and impactManaging collaboratio
 n with China: institutional approachesRisk management in academic cooperat
 ion with ChinaWillkommenskultur: making international students feel welcom
 e The first day will feature analytical and practice-oriented panels\, br
 inging together university leadership\, researchers\, administrators\, and
  policy actors engaged in European–China academic cooperation. The secon
 d day will take the form of interactive workshops aimed at identifying bes
 t practices\, governance models\, and potential avenues for future Europea
 n exchange and collaboration.Registration includes access to this exclusiv
