SUMMARY:Scientific Conference for the Creation of Sustainable Social Scenarios
DESCRIPTION:The UB Sustainable hub invites you to participate in this interdisciplinary meeting space to visualize and design the future through collaborative research. It is aimed at members of the UB SG Hub\, as well as PDI and PhD candidates interested in the challenges of building a sustainable future. The event will allow for the integration of cross-cutting visions of knowledge and research to define realistic sustainability scenarios. Register to share your expertise and participate in defining the future strategic pillars\, contributing directly to the creation of social scenarios that make sustainability on planet Earth possible. \nThe event will feature international keynote speakers: \n\nPep Canadell (CSIRO\, Global Carbon Project)\nMaria Luisa Lima (ISCTE-Lisbon University Institute)\nAlbert Tarancón (IREC – Energy Research Institute of Catalonia)\n\nParticipatory Workshop Session \nThe heart of the day will take place in the afternoon\, with a group workshop session that will be key to defining future strategic axes. This co-creation space will allow for the implementation of debated ideas and direct participation in shaping social scenarios that make sustainability on planet Earth possible. \nCall for Presentations \nWe are also opening a call for oral presentations for researchers who wish to share projects\, data or proposals that contribute to the creation of feasible scenarios. SUMMARY:Cooperation with China: Developing Competences and Structures in European Higher Education
DESCRIPTION:28–29 September 2026\n University of Würzburg\, Germany\n					\n				\n									Register Now\n					 \nScientific cooperation between European universities and partners in the People’s Republic of China continues to play an important role across disciplines. At the same time\, academic collaboration increasingly unfolds within a complex geopolitical and regulatory environment. Universities are expected to navigate evolving policy frameworks\, heightened public scrutiny\, and questions of institutional responsibility\, while safeguarding academic freedom\, research integrity and international openness. \nAgainst this backdrop\, the China Competence Centre of the University of Würzburg and the KoWinChi project (Interacting Competently with China in Science) — a joint programme of the University of Würzburg and FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg\, funded by the German Federal Ministry of Research\, Technology and Space — invite participants from across Europe to exchange experiences and reflect together on institutional approaches to cooperation with China. \nOver the past two years\, the KoWinChi project has worked closely with researchers and administrative staff at German universities to strengthen awareness\, institutional sensitivity and informed engagement in academic cooperation with China. With this conference\, we would like to continue the discussion within the broader European context\, creating space for comparative perspectives and shared reflection on institutional approaches\, governance practices\, and academic engagement. \nThe conference will address the following themes: \n\nEuropean messaging towards China: interpretations and impact\nManaging collaboration with China: institutional approaches\nRisk management in academic cooperation with China\nWillkommenskultur: making international students feel welcome\n\n  \nThe first day will feature analytical and practice-oriented panels\, bringing together university leadership\, researchers\, administrators\, and policy actors engaged in European–China academic cooperation. The second day will take the form of interactive workshops aimed at identifying best practices\, governance models\, and potential avenues for future European exchange and collaboration. \nRegistration includes access to this exclusive round of discussions\, as well as nutrition and refreshments throughout the conference.
