SUMMARY:CHARM ON #9: Operating Joint Virtual Offices in a European Universi
 ty – Behind the Scenes
DESCRIPTION:Returning after the summer break\, this ninth CHARM ON session 
 turns the spotlight on an essential pillar of transnational cooperation: t
 he Joint Virtual Offices (JVOs).Behind every cross-border initiative lies 
 a distributed administrative engine. Drawing on grounded experiences suppo
 rting the Master’s in Global Challenges for Sustainability\, in this ses
 sion we will delve into the day-to-day realities of coordinating CHARM-EU'
 s flagship international programme across borders. Our panellists will ref
 lect on navigating diverse institutional frameworks\, supporting students 
 across mobility phases\, and aligning workflows within a multilingual\, in
 tercultural team.Rather than treating administration as merely an operatio
 nal backdrop\, the discussion explores how shared virtual offices bridge n
 ational systems to turn the vision of a European University into sustainab

 n is the administrative coordinator of the Global Challenges for Sustain
 ability Master’s programme at the University of Montpellier and has been
  a member of the Joint Virtual Administrative Office (JVAO) since 2023. To
 gether with her JVAO colleagues from the other CHARM-EU partner universiti
 es she coordinates the administration and supports the delivery of the joi
 nt master’s programme. Through her career in international relations and
  higher education she has had the opportunity to live and work in the Unit
 ed Kingdom\, Germany\, and France.								\n																														
 \n									Blanca Burillo Lago is a communications professional specializ
 ing in European Higher Education and international cooperation. She serves
  as a Communications Manager at the Joint Virtual Communications Office (J
 VCOMMS) of the European Universities alliance CHARM-EU\, where she handl
 es institutional communications.With an academic background spanning langu
 age\, literature\, and international relations—including degrees and mas
 ter’s qualifications from institutions like the Universitat Autònoma de
  Barcelona (UAB) and the Institut Barcelona d’Estudis Internacionals (IB
 EI)—her professional background includes experience in translation\, loc
 alization and international project assistance.								\n																	
 													\n									Janina van Hees works at Utrecht University in the
  Netherlands. In the European University Alliance CHARM-EU\, she is leadin
 g the work package for IT Strategy.  She coordinated the establishment of
  CHARM’s Joint Virtual IT Office\, where staff collaborates to support t
 he IT-needs of the alliance. Janina is a member of the European Digital Ed
 ucation Hub’s working group on interoperability in higher education. Her
  previous work experiences include the EuroTeQ European University Allianc
 e and SURF\, the ICT cooperative of Dutch education institutions.
